Three dogs wanting permanent homes would like to share a bit about themselves in hopes someone will give them the love and care they desperately want and need.

These three are all residents at Roice-Hurst Humane Society and here are their stories.

Madison is a 7-year-old spayed female Border Collie Lab mix. She's big (about 70 pounds) and is nervous around small children but likes teenagers and adults. She will also warm up nicely to other dogs and doesn't mind cats.

Madison wants you to know she's "a naturally playful, curious canine." That curiosity means she likes to smell and see what is going on around her. Madison also loves walks and enjoys being kept busy with activities. She will work hard to please you.

In the evening, she'll settle in and relax, wind down and enjoy just being around a loving owner.

Rainey is an 8-year-old spayed female Hound Shepherd mix. She's a big dog (81 pounds) who is looking for an owner with a big yard and a big heart.

A one pet relationship with her owner suits Rainey best, but she might accept another dog in the family.

Children and small animals frighten her, otherwise she's an easy-going dog that just likes spending time with humans as a faithful friend.

Alfred

Alfred is a 1-year-old neutered male Shepherd Chow mix. He came to Roice-Hurst about two months ago from an out of state shelter.

His first year of life probably hasn't been a dog's dream, so Alfred can be scared, panicked, and sensitive when he meets someone new.

That soon fades away to reveal a sweet, gentle, loving dog who needs someone calm, quiet and patient.

While Alfred is not aggressive, he really needs a home with no children. As for other dogs in the family, an introduction with that pet at Roice-Hurst will determine if Alfred could be comfortable living with that pet.

The staff at Roice-Hurst invite you to visit their facility at 362 28 Road, meet these dogs and see which one can be a great four-legged friend to have around.

Roice-Hurst Humane Society is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
