This weird of a roadside attraction could only be in Colorado. It's big, it's fenced in and under surveillance, it's got legs, and long ones too. This is how you can find it.

Something this weird could only be in Colorado. The world's largest beetle lives in Colorado Springs. I don't know if you can say lives when he's not actually alive. The beetle's nickname is Herkimer and he's an extremely large replica of a West Indian Hercules Beetle.

The beetle is used as a landmark for the May Natural History Museum of the Tropics. This museum is home to the world's largest private insect collection. There's butterflies, beetles (of course), spiders, scorpions and more. The museum is home to over 7,000 species of insects.

Herkimer has been around since the 1950s and even made a cross country trip to Weeki Wachee, Florida. This is because the owners of the museum attempted to move to Florida. Did you know there's a lot of humidity there? Of course, you did, which is not good for the preservation of bugs. They moved back and now Herkimer is home, along with 7,000 other species of insects.
