If you look at these two photos you should notice one major difference. Can you spot the difference in the Saturday morning bagel crowd?

At first glance, you might say 'that's easy, one group is sitting and the other is standing. You would be right, but that's not what we are going for here.

Recently while having a Saturday morning bagel breakfast my wife I made an interesting observation and here it is.

The later in the morning, it was the greater the percentage of younger customers.

You will notice in the photograph on the left, an 'older' group of people. About an hour later is the photo on the right with a definitely younger clientele. Clearly, this group had slept later and was getting their day started much later than those of us in the 'older' demographic.

So you may wonder what was happening the night before. The older crowd was quite possibly enjoying a quiet Friday evening at home watching TV with the dogs and in bed by 10:00 p.m.

The younger crowd was most likely out somewhere with friends late into the night and getting to bed well past the midnight hour.

I remember those days, sort of.

Although I was never necessarily a stay-out-super-late kind of guy, I remember the college days where being up past midnight was the norm - even on weekdays.

Nowadays, the occasions of me ever seeing midnight are about as rare as Friday the 13.

It's like, it happens once in a while, but I don't remember the last time it did.
