One of the secrets of solving a Rubik's cube is the same as mastering anything else, practice. But that's only part of the secret to solving the puzzle quickly.

Another part is understanding the design of the Rubik Cube. From there, you can learn how to use the design to your advantage to help solve the puzzle.

The current single cube record holder, Collin Burns, uses the Fridrich method that starts by lining up the cubes so there is a cross on the bottom. But even Burns admits part of speed solving a Rubik's Cube is luck.

One other key to solving the cube is memorizing sequences that puts the cube into the proper order. Memorization requires repetition. So, practice is as important as the method if you want to gain speed solving the puzzle.
