Dreams have always been a fascinating study, and now a study suggests the position you sleep in may dictate the types of dreams you have.

Some people say they don't dream very often, while others, like me, tend to have nightly dreams, most of which we don't remember the morning after. But, it's interesting to think that our sleep position may have something to do with what we dream.

According to the Daily Mail, recent research in Hong Kong revealed 40% of left-side sleepers reported having disturbing dreams and nightmares. Only about 14% of right-side sleepers reported bad dreams.

The study shows that right-side sleepers tend to have dreams featuring feelings of relief and safety.

Stomach sleepers were more likely to report sensations related to sex and being "tied up". They say this could have to do with the fact that you're getting less oxygen and the mind imagines being constricted.

There's nothing from the study about back sleepers, or a correlation between sleep position and whether or not a person dreams at all.

It might be interesting to do a little experiment at home with different sleep positions. Immediately upon waking,  recording the nature of your dreams and the position you were in. If you are one who experiences recurring nightmares, this might provide a solution to the problem.
