According to a study by Census Track the neighborhood in the south part of Grand Junction between highways 6 and 50 has the 2nd most overall gun deaths between 2000 and 2011 in the state!

You know you're getting older when your children and those of most of your family and friends have already graduated from high school. Of course, there are people who are know someone in the class of 2013 and want to share in the proud accomplishment of those students by attending commencement ceremonies for our area schools.
April 12, 2013 Grand Junction Police have closed a section of Horizon Drive near G Road due to reports of a man with a gun barricaded in a local motel.
Saturday, April 20th in Lincoln Park the 12th annual Southwest Arbor Fest will take place. This is a great family event with live music; arts & crafts, a salsa competition and the chili cook off. The gates will open at 11am and we start serving our chili, plus make sure you stop by the barn and pick up your free tree seedling. For those who are of age there will be a craft beer expo with over 18 different breweries pouring tasty suds. The day will warm up with the Jalapeno eating contest the last person standing wins $100.

The Grand Junction Fire department has temporarily moved fire station #2 from 2827 Patterson to a location right across the street at 2854 Patterson. The station is currently in the process of being remodeled as the last phase of the Public Safety Project. The project included the new police station and 911 center, a remodel of fire station #1, and a remodel of the old police station into fire administration.
