One wouldn’t necessarily expect the Conner family to take stock of the Oscars, but Roseanne is officially going for gold. The 90th Academy Awards brought our first look at ABC’s upcoming Roseanne revival, and John Goodman’s miraculous return has not gone unnoticed.
It’s official – Alec Baldwin will enter the pantheon of late-night talk shows as early as this Sunday. Following reports of the 30 Rock and SNL star transitioning his podcast into a new series, ABC confirms that Baldwin will headline Sundays With Alec Baldwin, even previewing the series after this year’s Oscars.
Given today’s endless TV revivals, it’s hard to overlook former cultural phenomena with unsatisfying ends. ABC’s LOST would seem like a prime target, but network heads aren’t admitting to any official revival talks just yet, despite one of the creators returning to ABC in recent months.
And just like that – Roseanne Season 9 never happened. Our first formal look at the 2018 revival sees not only John Goodman back in his role as Dan Conner, but also Roseanne herself and daughter Darlene palling around the old house like nothing’s changed.
Celebrity chef Mario Batali is stepping aside as co-host of ABC’s The Chew. At least four women have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, of which Batali acknowledges “much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted.”
Strangely enough, Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing may have more twists and turns to its cancellation than six seasons on ABC. The recently-canceled sitcom was negotiating to return on Country Music Television, though the talks have broken down over money.
