Stuff the Bus Campaign Enters Final Week, We Need School Supply Donations!

I don't have a great memory, I'll be the first to admit it. But, I do remember the excitement of going back to school - going shopping for new clothes and supplies, and looking forward to that first day in a new class, a new teacher, and new friends. It's funny how during the school year we couldn't wait to get out for the summer - but when August rolled around we couldn't wait for the new adventure.

I also realize that the excitement level isn't the same for everyone, because there are those who simply can not afford to go out and buy new clothes for all of their kids, AND school supplies for each one. So what happens is kids end up at school on the first day in new clothes that fit them, but without the necessary school supplies. What a horrible feeling for a kid. That's why KOOL 107.9 does Stuff the Bus.

This annual campaign collects school supplies for kids in kindergarten through high school.  Each school in Mesa County is able to identify the children that are in need, and they distribute the donated supplies to those kids.

Obviously, the success of this campaign depends on the response of our listeners, who seem to rise to the challenge of Stuff the Bus year after year.

We have just one week to go before we have to un-stuff the First Student Bus, located at Clock Court in Mesa Mall, and we have a long way to go. So I would ask you as you are out and about this weekend if you would pick up a bag or two of school supplies and slip in one of the bus windows. There is a list of supplies on the bus, but we need all of the basic supplies from pens and pencils, to crayons and glue, paper, folders, notebooks, rulers, backpacks, etc.

If you want, you can drop off your donation at the KOOL Studios at 315 Kennedy Avenue, and I will get your supplies to the bus. We also would encourage to get your office involved over the next few days to collect school supplies for the campaign. If you office is doing something, call us up at 242-5665 and we will announce it on the air.
