The Messiah Choral Society of Grand Junction presents this concert each year as a musical gift to the community. The choir rehearses all year to put on this one free annual concert. This Easter's performance is directed by Dr. Monte Atkinson, and features concertmaster Carlos Elias, violinist Sandra Rivera, principal cellist Kristen Yeon-Ji Yun, and Scott Betts and Judd Berry on trumpet.
If you're familiar with Handel's Messiah, then you know the trumpets have a lot of downtime, as in A LOT of downtime. Thanks to trumpeter Scott Betts for the photos.
Yours truly will be performing on Double Bass. Please try and make this show.
Downbeat is this Easter Sunday at 2:30 at Grand Junction High School auditorium. There is plenty of seating for this free concert. Dress does not need to be formal. The orchestra, however, will be in concert dress.
