Mesa County Valley School District 51 has been working on a vision for the future of education in Grand Junction and towns within the district. They would like more input from the community before the vision is presented to the School Board.

The school district's vision statement 'Engage, Equip, Empower our learning community today for an unlimited tomorrow' gives an idea of what education will look like in both the immediate and long-term future.

The district is asking people in the community, whether they have children in school or not, to complete an online or paper survey. The results of that survey will be used to refine the district's vision to meet the needs and expectations of the community.

The survey consists of two specific questions regarding the vision statement and room to comment on each question plus an additional comment section for any other thoughts about the vision of the school district.

People can take the online survey in English or take the online survey in Spanish. Paper copies of the survey are also available at school offices. Surveys must be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017.

According to the School District, the vision, when complete, will guide the way they implement academic programs, technology and other essential elements of education to ultimately prepare students for college and employment after graduation.
