Same Sex Marriage Resumes in Colorado, Mesa County is Waiting

Some Colorado counties resumed issuing same-sex marriage licenses today after the US Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of a ruling against Utah's marriage law.

According to 9 News.com, Pueblo and Larimer counties began issuing same-sex marriage licenses today, and other counties will be following suit.

A number of counties apparently are waiting for resolution and confirmation from attorneys that same sex marriages can be legally performed.

There are at least three Colorado counties that will not be issuing same-sex marriage licenses, at least not yet.

According to 9 News, Boulder, Denver, and Adams Counties are under a stay by the Colorado state supreme court which prevents them from issuing licenses to same-sex couples.

Mesa County is not yet issuing same-sex marriage licenses. The Clerk's office says they are waiting for the Attorney General to get all the legalities taken care of. It could be as early as Tuesday, but there's no definite word on when it will happen.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers said all of the state's 64 counties must now issue marriage licenses to gay couples. That means same sex marriage in Colorado is now officially legal.
