S.P.U.N.K. Celebrates 12 Years of Helping Needing Kids

When Gretchen Haynes started S.P.U.N.K. (Socks Pajamas and Underwear for Needing Kids) a dozen years ago, she quickly recognized how important and rewarding filling a gap in clothing drives was.

Even though Gretchen Haynes died in 2015, the program continues thanks to her husband Don and others including Orchard Mesa Lions Club, Key Realty and Jubilee Family Church who know the need continues and so should the program.

Donations are distributed through the School District 51 REACH Program, Mesa County Foster Care, and Grand Valley Catholic Outreach.

Socks, Pajamas, and Underwear are needed for all ages from infant to teens, making it easy to purchase and donate new items. Donations will be collected through December 15.

There are a number of drop-off locations around the Grand Junction area including the KOOL 107.9 studios at 315 Kennedy Avenue. Other locations include:
