A man who crashed his motorcycle into a guardrail on the Redlands Parkway Thursday night (July 14) was found to have had alcohol and THC in his system at the time of the crash.

The victim, 31-year-old Dustin Lucas of McClure, Pennsylvania likely lost control of his motorcycle on Thursday around 10 p.m. then ran into a guardrail on the Parkway bridge headed to the Redlands. Police believe there were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

Lucas was thrown over the guardrail and landed under the bridge but out of the water. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Police indicate speed was a likely factor in the crash. The Mesa County Coroner's Office report indicates Lucas died of multiple blunt force injuries and has ruled the death an accident.

The report also indicated Lucas had twice the legal limit of alcohol and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana in his blood.
