Neil Diamond has been working on some new songs, but recent tragedies including the Boston Marathon bombing have given him inspiration to write even more.In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Diamond says he's been affected by the bombing and other tragic events around the country and feels the need to express his feelings in a song.

It’s like an infestation, and I’m writing about the general situation, not just about this bombing in Boston, but what we’re going through with all of these tragedies -- shootings and so on and so forth.

No completion or release date for the music has been announced, although Diamond told Rolling Stone at the end of last week he hoped the song would be finished by the weekend.

In a show of compassion and support, Diamond made a surprise appearance at Boston's Fenway Park over the weekend and led the crowd in singing his hit, 'Sweet Caroline.'
