Western Colorado's Powderhorn Resort has kicked off the 2016 Downhill Mountain Biking Season and the thrills have just begun.

Mention Powderhorn and most people immediately think of snow, slopes, skiing, snowboarding, and innertubes. But, there is another group of people who are thinking something completely different - downhill mountain biking.

Powderhorn has completed two downhill trails and will continue building trails through the summer. That means bikers will have plenty of thrills, chills, and probably even a few spills.

The trails are open Fridays 2PM-6PM and Saturdays and Sundays 10AM-5PM. The season runs until October 19 and bikers can purchase season passes or single day tickets.

To celebrate the inaugural year of lift-accessed downhill mountain biking, Powderhorn is hosting a party during the Fourth of July holiday weekend including live music on Saturday, free camping, and, of course- mountain biking.

If I were a mountain biker I would be getting my bike tuned up right now and getting ready to tackle the mountain.
