Skiers and snowboarders anticipating the opening of the new high speed chairlift at Powderhorn Mountain Resort, will be happy to know construction is almost complete.

Just as important is the temperature is right for the resort to start making snow for the upcoming season.

In addition to the new Flat Top Flyer chairlift, Powderhorn Mountain Resort has also upgraded their snow making capabilities.

According to Dave Smith, Slope Operation Manager at Powderhorn Resort,

With being able to make snow, we’re going to be able to establish a base earlier.  In order to get the slopes open we need at a least a 24 inch base. With cooperating temperatures, upgraded snow guns and expanded snow making coverage, we’re going to be able to get a lot more terrain covered than anyone at Powderhorn has ever seen before.”

The resort is scheduled to open for the season on December 17, but if the construction of the new lift is completed and weather is favorable, the resort could open earlier.

Meantime skiers and boarders should start getting their equipment ready and think snow, lots of snow.
