Deputies drove to a house in Clifton on Sunday morning looking for a person with active arrest warrants, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office Facebook. Although the wanted person wasn't there, they did find something else.

Deputies saw two adult dogs inside of the house and heard barking close by. They then found eight puppies with no food, no water, and no floor.

Their water bowls were frozen over and they hadn't eaten in days. Eight puppies were in a metal kennel with no floor -- just mud, urine, and feces.

According to the MSCO Facebook:

The puppies' owner told deputies he was keeping the puppies outside because he no longer had room to care for them inside. He also told deputies he hadn't been able to provide food for them in the last 48 hours because dog food that was donated to him had run out.

The deputies got in touch with Animal Serves and the owner signed custody over to Animal Services. They gave the owner a warning and told him officers would be back to check on the adult dogs.

The puppies aren't up for adoption -- yet. These eight puppies are too young right now to be adopted. But you can find out more about adopting these fluffballs here.
