The latter-day careers of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, both of whom are facing off in this first-round March Mullet Madness battle, ultimately didn't have many intersections. Except, as you can see, in hairstyles.

But which one wore it better? That's where you come in. We’ve lined up some of history’s most spectacular mullets and paired them off against each other for a series of tonsorial battles. We’re halving the field every week based on your votes, until only the greatest mullet in rock ‘n’ roll history is left standing.

McCartney and Jagger rose to fame at roughly the same time in the early '60s. McCartney even co-wrote one of the Rolling Stones' early singles, "I Wanna Be Your Man," with John Lennon. But where McCartney's partnership in the Beatles wouldn't last past the decade, Jagger is still crossing the globe with Keith Richards and company. Conversely, Jagger didn't begin his solo career in earnest until the '80s, while McCartney's self-titled debut arrived way back in 1970.

But one thing they clearly shared, at least for a time, was a preference for the mullet. (Here's a priceless shot from the Daily Mullet that perhaps best showcases Jagger's version.) Vote now for the best one.

Oh, and if you just can’t decide, don’t worry: You can come back and keep voting once an hour between now and when the Round One polls close on March 21 at 11:59PM ET. Our March Mullet Madness winner will be announced on April 12.
