Fans are ecstatic to hear the long awaited announcement from Paramount Pictures regarding the announcement of the next feature film from the Star Trek franchise. Coming to theaters Summer 2015, George Takei stars as Mr. Sulu in "Star Trek: Excelsior." For detailed information, keep scrolling.

Fans have been pressuring Paramount for decades to produce a film following the adventures of Captain Hikaru Sulu at the helm of his starship, the USS Excelsior. The idea was set in motion with Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, which featured George Takei in the role as Captain Sulu of the USS Excelsior. For more info, read further.

Since then, it had been assumed by fans that a spinoff would be inevitable. With the recent success of the 2009 reboot of Star Trek, and its followup Star Trek: Into Darkness, Paramount has new found interest in keeping the franchise going. More details below.
