This week's crime of the week started with a thief breaking into a car and stealing a purse and wallet.

According to Crime Stoppers, the theft occurred on September 16 when the suspect broke the window of a 2004 Lexus parked off Rapid Creek Road and Highway 6 near the Palisade Rim Trail.

After breaking out the window, the thief stole a purse and wallet inside the car. A credit card in the wallet was later used to purchase items at the Ross Store on Highway 6 and 50.

At the time of the fraudulent purchase, the male suspect with a goatee was wearing a red shirt, dark shorts and a camouflaged hat.
