One person has died and another is in the hospital after the vehicle they were in went off of the highway and into the Colorado River near Palisade.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado State Patrol said the accident happened around 5:45 p.m Sunday, September 30 when a vehicle went off of the road in the area of Rapid Creek Road and Highway 6.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the CSP. They report the deceased is a female and the person hospitalized is a juvenile. Other information will be available when the investigation is complete. Also, the names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members.
