It wouldn't be right to go through the day without saying happy birthday to one of my all-time favorites, Olivia Newton-John. Although she doesn't know it, Olivia and I go way back.It was 1977 and I was  14 years old when I first met Olivia Newton-John - figuratively, of course. She wasn't my first, but it was close. The first album I ever owned was Barry Manilow LIVE. The second was Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits. I only knew five songs on the album including Let Me Be There, Have You Never Been Mellow, If You Love Me Let Me Know, I Honestly Love You, and Please, Mister, Please. It wasn't long until I knew all 12 songs  word-for-word.

We have both come a long ways since then. She went on to fall in love with Danny Zuko in Grease, and got Physical in the early 80s, while I went on to hang posters of Cheryl Ladd, Fran Tarkenton, and the "Fonze"  on my bedroom walls.

I still have that Greatest Hits album, and not long ago I put it on CD. They don't make female pop singers like they used to, but for me, Olivia's pure, angelic voice, darling smile, and penetrating eyes will always be the standard. Happy Birthday, Olivia!
