The Grand Junction Police Department temporarily closed a portion of North Avenue and adjacent streets in response to a report of an armed man with a gunshot wound.

Officers who responded to the reported location in the 1600 block of North Avenue were able to contact the gunshot victim and able to get him to agree to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Residences and businesses in the area were asked to shelter in place until police could investigate and determine the degree of danger to the area.

The shelter in place has been lifted and North Avenue and other streets near the incident with the exception of 16th Street between Glenwood and North Avenues have reopened.

Grand Junction Police Officers report there are no outstanding suspects and an investigation is being conducted to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the shooting.
