Neil Diamond was in Colorado recently to film a new video for the song 'Something Blue' from his upcoming album, and went home with two puppies from Colorado Animal Rescue in Glenwood Springs.

According to the Post-Independent   the music icon filmed the video recently in the Roaring Fork Valley and it was his wife, Katie, who wanted to use the shelter animals in the video. When it was all said and done, the Diamonds ended up adopting two of the puppies.  It's pretty cool that Neil and his wife are showing support for animal shelters.Oh, and the song is pretty cool, too!

Although the song in the video is not about dogs, it is good exposure for animal shelters seeking loving owners for homeless pets. Some of the best pets in the world have come from animal shelters. I have one of them, Frisco, a black lab/mix who came from Mesa County Animal Services, and I met one at the downtown car show -- a totally awesome Alaskan Malamute. He was adopted by his owner, Jerry, 12 years ago.

If you are thinking about getting a dog, I would encourage you to consider adopting from an animal shelter. Mesa County Animal Services and Roice Hurst Humane Society have pets available for adoption and are good options for new dog owners.
