The greatest summer outdoor jobs are just a forest away. The National Forests in western Colorado is hiring people whose idea of a perfect job is to spend the summer working in the woods.

The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG) need about 60 people to fill temporary seasonal positions this year. Those jobs are in trails, forestry, wildlife, recreation, fisheries, archaeology, engineering, and administrative support.

With so many opportunities, it may be hard to decide which to apply for so first, check out the GMUG Website sections About the Forest and Employment. It is also great to take a look at the Rocky Mountain Region Temporary Hiring Website for detailed information on regional jobs and how to apply for employment with the National Forest Service.

Applications for temporary employment will be accepted through USAJOBS from January 26 through February 1. Additional temporary jobs may be posted as they become available so having an application on file and checking for those jobs is a good idea.

Those looking for permanent employment with the National Forest service can see openings nationwide at the US Forest Outreach Website.
