Just because this weekend's Func Fest is centered around the Montrose Water Sports Park doesn't mean there aren't plenty of activities for land lovers.

2017 marks the third year for the event scheduled Saturday, July 22 in Montrose. The name may seem odd until you learn that Func is an abbreviation (or acronym depending on how you interpret it) for Fun on the Uncompahgre.

In addition to human events, there are also activities for dogs including the grand opening of the new dog park at Cerise Park and a dog welcome party.

River events start with registration beginning at 7 a.m. followed by Freestyle Kayaking and Surfing contest and SUPcross/Boatercross with cash prizes offered to top competitors. A FUNC-y river parade and awards ceremony rounds out the afternoon.

The BLM will have a free river safety seminar between water events from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.

Land events start at 8 a.m. with a Riverbottom Rock Walk in the Park, yoga, disc golf tournament, mountain bike trail ride, casting challenge, and roller derby.

The Regional Outdoor Retailers Expo will be open all day as will food and beverage vendors. If you're feeling like a 'lucky ducky,' join the duck race. Also, live bands will be performing beginning at 2 p.m.
