Those planning to attend the Montrose Health Fair in February have a convenient  option to have their blood drawn early and avoid the wait during the fair.

Having blood draws and the tests done early also allows attendees to have the results available before the health fair making it easier for medical personnel to provide specific information to those attending.

The early blood draws are on January 31 through February 3 from 6:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Montrose Pavilion. Draws will be by appointment only on January 31 and February 1. Appointments can be made at MontroseHospital.com. Walk-Ins will be allowed on a space available basis on February 2 and 3.

Online appointments can also be made for early blood draws on January 27 at the 4-H Events Center in Ridgway and January 29 at the American Legion Hall in Olathe.

For test results to be accurate, fasting for at least 12 hours before having blood drawn is required. Hydration is important, so drink plenty of water during the fasting period. People with certain medical conditions should not fast unless approved by their physician.

Blood tests available include HealthScreen (Chemistry) and Lipid Panel, Hemoglobin A1C, PSA for Prostate Health, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Vitamin D Screening, Vitamin B-12, and Male Testosterone. Payment is by cash or check. The Health Fair is unable to bill insurance.

The Health Fair is Saturday, February 24, at the Montrose Pavilion.
