The second annual FUNC Fest in Montrose is less than two weeks away and is a day full of fun that is also a great way for families to beat the summer heat.

If you're asking what the heck is a FUNC Fest, then it will help to know that FUNC stands for 'Fun on the Uncompahgre (River).' A portion of the river includes the Montrose Water Park which is an awesome place to beat the summer heat.

FUNC Fest is July 30 and includes a number of river events including a down river race, boater-cross/sup-cross competitions, a river safety presentation,  and FUNC-y - and I mean funky - river parade.

While the festival has plenty of water events, there are also a number of activities for those who would rather stay on dry land including a mountain bike trail ride, disc golf competition, a dry land casting challenge and an outdoor equipment expo.

The kids will also be able to enjoy a special kids area with a bounce house, hoop shoot, kayak painting, and more.

For the four-legged attendees, there's a special pet welcoming party planned. Partners are sponsoring a 'Ducky Race' at Riverbottom Creek.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Food and beverage, and live entertainment will be available at the event which takes place at River Bottom Park, and surrounding areas including the Baldridge Park Complex, Cerise Park, and Sunset Mesa.
