One sure sign of spring is Montrose car owners polishing up their beauties for the annual Friday cruise nights.

The cruise nights are sponsored by Black Canyon Classics Car Club as part of a number of things members are involved with throughout the year.

Each week, the group meets at a different location to visit and cruise the streets of Montrose. The event on March 11 is a 'Snack n' Yak' at Wendys beginning at 5:30 p.m. People interested in the club and weekly cruises are encouraged to attend.

The first cruise of the season will begin at 6:00 p.m. on March 18 with Taco Bell being home base for the cruise. Friday cruises will continue through November 3.

The club is open to anyone who has a passion for cars, old or new and want to meet people with the same enthusiasm.

Having fun is only a part of the club's mission. Members also raise and donate money to local organizations. Recent beneficiaries include Delta/Olathe Special Olympics, Sharing Ministries Food Bank, Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center, Welcome Home Montrose and Golden Circle Seniors.

The club also awards an annual scholarship to an area high school graduate who is pursuing an education in the automotive industry.
