With the suspensions that were handed down this week, Major League Baseball it seems has taken a huge step toward cleaning up the sport that has been tainted by drug scandals for years - from Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens, and now Alex Rodriguez. But, there are questions. Do baseball fans care if their favorite players use performance enhancing drugs? Does the use of PED's actually damage the sport or does it make the sport more exciting?  And, do YOU care what happens in major league baseball? Not too long ago we wrote about the decline in popularity of major league baseball. Between player strikes and work stoppages - and drug scandals - there clearly has been a decline in attendance at ball parks and television viewers. Will this most recent round of suspensions right the ship and get major league baseball headed in the right direction, or will this be the final straw for fans who are sitting on the fence?

It's clear that major league baseball is finally getting serious about cleaning up the sport. This is evidenced by the fact that none of the 12 players suspended for 50 games had tested positive for PED's. It was all a matter of MLB's investigation that led to the suspensions. MLB seemed determined to rid the sport of performance enhancing drugs, though not illegal, are against the rules.

However, for me, I'm afraid it's too late. I no longer care what happens in major league baseball. I still like baseball, but my interest in the majors has dipped to an all-time low. Big money, big egos, player discontent, and cheating have effectively ended my marriage to baseball. It's time to break up. I'm moving on.
