If you've ever been told, or think you run around like a chicken with its head cut off, you can join a flock of people doing the same thing.

This run - or walk if you prefer - is part of the Mike the Headless Chicken Festival in Fruita. As wacky as it seems, the entire festival is a humorous tribute to Mike, the legendary chicken who survived even after his head was cut off.

The 5k run/walk begins at 9 a.m. on June 2 at the Fruita Civic Center. Early registration is $25 through June 1. After that, the cost is $30. Participants can register the day of the event from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

Following the run/walk, there will be live entertainment, a car show, vendors with all kinds of wares and most important of all, a poultry show (heads attached).

The 19th annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival is June 2 and 3 in downtown Fruita with many of the activities free of charge.
