Metallica Offer Free Download of National Anthem
Ten days ago (May 16), James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica played the national anthem at AT&T Park before the San Francisco Giants baseball game. Now, the band have offered a free download of the rendition.
The performance was part of the Giants' second annual "Metallica Night." You can find the file over at their website, along with a few pictures of the event. In addition to the national anthem, they also announced the starting lineups, threw out the first pitch and spent time in the broadcast booth. Other Metallica-themed activities were held throughout the night, including their children singing during the seventh inning stretch.
All of the fans in attendance received an inflatable Metallica guitar and a set of guitar picks with Metallica members on one side and Giants players on the other. Proceeds from the evening benefited the the Bay Area chapter of Little Kids Rock, which provides instruments and music education classes to children in under-served communities across the country.
Metallica are currently working on a new album. Although there is no set release date, they have said that they hope to have it completed by September.
