Mesa County Offers Free Option for Residents Not Eligible for City Clean-Up

People are already piling up unwanted items along the streets in anticipation of the Grand Junction citywide clean-up starting next week. For residents not eligible for city clean-up, Mesa County has scheduled free days at the dump and county transfer stations.

The next free day is at the Mesa County Landfill this Saturday (April 12). Additional county free days are scheduled for the Gateway Transfer Station on April 19 and at the DeBeque Transfer Station on April 26.

The landfill will accept most household trash and yard waste but there are some exceptions to Free Day disposal. These include:

• Tires
• Electronic waste
• Hazardous waste
• Appliances containing refrigerants
• Commercially hauled materials

The Mesa County Landfill also requires all loads be covered and secured.

Electronic waste and some hazardous waste is accepted at the Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, but there is a fee for the disposal of these items.
