While many are thinking about summer picnics, travel or other fun activities, it is important to take some time to remember those who gave theirs lives to protect our freedom. Here are some things you can do to in Grand Junction to remember those who served our country.

On Friday, (May 27) flags will be placed on the graves at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery beginning at 3 p.m.

The Western Slope Chapter of the Grand Junction Harley Owners Group and Patriot Guard Riders are coordinating the flag placement, but anyone can assist in placing flags on the graves of those who served.

Sunday (May 29) at 6 p.m. the Combined Grand Valley Honor Guard will lower and retire the flag at the cemetery. Part of that ceremony includes a proper burning ceremony of that and other American flags that are no longer usable.

Monday (May 30) a public Memorial Day ceremony recognizing veterans both living and dead will be held at the cemetery at 10 a.m.
