Talk about your close calls.

James Valentine should thank his lucky stars: he survived after a chainsaw got stuck in his neck.

Valentine, 21, is a tree trimmer who was cutting down a tree in Ross, Pennsylvania on Monday when he lost control of the chainsaw.

The blade got wedged between Valentine’s collarbone and neck before a rescue crew removed the saw’s engine. He remained conscious while he was taken to the hospital.

And, perhaps most fortunately, the chainsaw remained in his neck the whole time, which prevented further bleeding until doctors removed it. His co-worker made the decision that probably saved his life. Take note of this, if you are ever in an accident where something large gets lodged in your body, remember to leave it in until you can get proper medical care.
