Look at this picture of the Mesa County inductees for World War I. This photo was taken in 1917 in front of the Bank of Grand Junction.

Since yesterday was Veterans Day (observed today) let's take a moment to honor our Mesa County soldiers. Pictured here are the Mesa County inductees for WWI. Mesa County's first draft quota was made up of 142 men.

The photo was taken in 1917 in front of the Bank of Grand Junction, located at 523 Main Street. Our Mesa County soldiers helped make up a military force totaling 2.8 million U.S. soldiers.

I have numerous family members that are veterans and I have the utmost respect for them. This photo is a reminder of how these soldiers gave the ultimate sacrifice for us. Life as we know it wouldn't exist without the soldiers pictured here and the millions across our nation.

From all of us here in Mesa County, thank you. Some of the comments include 'I wonder if my grandfather is in this picture.' If you know anyone that's picture in the photo, let us know in the comments.
