KKCO News has reported of a special visit Wednesday to a 12-year East Middle School student.

Cyclist Lance Armstrong was in Grand Junction to visit Delaney Clements, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer. Armstrong visited Delaney at East Middle School to let her know that she’s not alone in her fight against cancer.

KKCO reports that Armstrong isn’t the only one supporting young Delaney – local Grand Junction businesses have donated food and products to East Middle School, and proceeds are going to Delaney’s family to help with medical bills.

Armstrong is a cancer survivor himself, and knows the toll it can take on a person. As for Delaney, Armstrong told KKCO: "It's awful to see this situation and be in this situation and what I look forward to is the day that Delaney is graduating high school and going to prom that's what we get to think about and shoot for."
