The Salvation Army will be helping the less fortunate families across Western Colorado this December. The truth is, they expect to help over 1800 families, including more than 2800 boys and girls. You can be a part of this by donating toys and food, helping to put smiles on many faces and making this Christmas very merry. Here is how you can help out:They Salvation Army has teamed up with KOOL 107.9 and KKCO again to collect toys and food. KOOL 107.9 is kicking off the annual "KOOL Toys For Kids" campaign for 2013 to help the Salvation Army brighten the holidays for many children this December. The toy drive runs through December 18th.

Starting this Thanksgiving weekend KOOL will be at area Wal-mart stores along with the Western Slope Harley Owners and the Colorado Army National Guard. Please drop off a new, unwrapped toy in Delta all day on Saturday. In Grand Junction you can join the Western Colorado Harley Owners Group while they start collecting for the 34th Annual Toy Run at the Rimrock Wal-mart. If you are near the North Avenue Wal-mart, please place a toy in the Colorado National Guard truck this afternoon. The Salvation Army with be trying to fill trucks every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at both Grand Junction Wal-mart stores throughout the collection campaign.

KOOL will be on the go again on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Rimrock Wal-mart and at Target in the Mesa Mall on December 18th for the wrap up. You can drop off toys, gift cards or monetary donations at any KOOL On The Go broadcast this month, including the GJ Parade of Lights or when we will be Bell Ringing at City Market on December 12th. Another toy drive event is the Western Colorado Harley Owners Group 34th Annual Motorcycle Toy Run on Saturday December 7th throughout the Grand Valley with activities starting at Grand Junction Harley Davidson at 9:00am with registration plus coffee and doughnuts. All bikes are welcome, regardless of brand or type, just bring a new unwrapped toy to donate.

You can also look for the Colorado Army National Guard to be out at local stores collecting toys, or donate to them at the Parade of Lights or at their home off the Riverside Parkway at 2810 Riverside Parkway.
