Keith Richards Claims Drug Use Really Hasn’t Hurt Him Much

It's no secret Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has used a lot of drugs. It's also a well known that several rock and roll stars have died due to drug use and abuse. Many are amazed Richards hasn't suffered the same fate. Even more incredible is that Richards says his drug use really hasn't taken that much of a toll on him.

In an interview with Men's Journal, Richards had this to say about why he's used so many drugs.

I was very interested in what I could take and what I could do. I looked upon the body as a laboratory – I used to throw in this chemical and then that one to see what would happen; I was intrigued by that. What one would work against another; I've got a bit of alchemist in me that way. But all experiments must come to an end."

While he doesn't claim to be completely clean, he did admit, "Actually, my body tells me when to stop…the hard way," referring to the head injury he suffered after falling out of a coconut tree a few years ago.
