Palisade peaches are still available, and if you search,  you can find them at a great price. September has arrived and with it comes fall and the end of the peach season. But, if you missed the annual Palisade Peach Festival and wondered if it was too late to get some good peaches, the answer is a resounding no.

Over the weekend, my brother and I, took a drive through East Orchard Mesa heading for Palisade. It was a Sunday morning and we found plenty of signs advertising peaches for sale, but not many people actually out selling them. One of the places we found that was open,  turned out to be a gold mine. The sign on the store says  "Pantry and Produce". We bought 100 pounds of #2 peaches for $80. How's your math? That's 80 cents per pound!

The folks at the store  indicated they would be selling peaches for another two weeks - maybe three - and  they seemed to still have a good supply. I think the price for #1 peaches was $25 a box.

We also found a good selection and variety of peaches at the Farmers Market in downtown Palisade. Prices ranged from $2.50 - $3.00 per pound, which isn't  too bad, considering some peaches during the festival were going for around $3.95 per pound.

There's still plenty of fresh produce available and opportunities for purchases. In addition to the Palisade Farmers Market on Sundays, the Fruita Farmers Market continues Saturday mornings through September 21st, and the Farmers Market in downtown Grand Junction continues through Thursday, September 19th.
