Levels are getting low in the mighty Colorado River as it passes through Grand Junction. Are water levels low enough where you can actually walk across the river without getting your feet wet? Check out the video.

For the record, I'm not referring to a miracle of biblical proportions. This isn't about walking ON water. Just the opposite. When it comes to the Colorado as it passes through town, there hardly any water to walk on.

Looking at the Colorado River from the bridge near Eagle Rim Park on Orchard Mesa, it appears as though one might actually find a place to cross the river with getting even the least bit wet. Can it be done? I couldn't help but wonder, so ... I gave it try.

As it turns out, I ultimately failed at my mission. Accompanied by my faithful companion Fluffy, our journey failed to reveal a place to forge the Colorado without getting at least a little bit wet. As you'll see in the video, there was one portion of the river where Fluffy found himself belly deep in water.

The valley's beloved river is running a bit low. This is, of course, is not atypical for this time of year. Then again, it's still a little disconcerting.

With any luck, Mother Nature will dish out more of that treasured July rain. In the meantime, we'll just have to put the scuba gear and water skis in storage.
