The hardest part about spending $1000 is deciding what exactly to spend it on, and here on some possible ways of spending $1000 in Grand Junction if you won the money on a local radio station.

The object here is to have a little fun, so for the sake of discussion, let's assume that you are not allowed to use the money to pay bills, nor are you allowed to give it away. You have to spend it all on yourself. I have a feeling I would spend it on something I WANT, not something I NEED, like a waffle iron, a toaster, electric blanket, or a dishwasher.

By the way, speaking of winning $1000, we are giving away a grand twice a day every weekday in November, except Thanksgiving. For your chance to win just listen for the cue to call!

    Golf Clubs

Well, nobody should be surprised about this one. And while I may not get a Phil Mickelson caliber set, I think for a thousand bucks I can get a set of clubs that is more than adequate for my ability. Speaking of ability, maybe I just spend the money on golf lessons. Hitting bad shots with new clubs won't feel any better than hitting bad shots with old clubs.

    Golf Balls

A fella could buy a lot of golf balls for $1000 -- especially if he doesn't buy the kind that are $50 and $60 a box. If I bought a thousand dollars worth of golf balls, I assure you I would never search for a lost golf ball ever again.

    Eating Out

Assuming that we spend $40 each time out, my wife and I could visit a different restaurant every other week for an entire year. With FREE money, I'll gladly take a chance on a bad experience. When it's MY money, I want to be SURE I'm getting a meal I'm going to enjoy.

    Home Theater

We watch quite a lot of TV, especially during the football season, so it would be well worth it to spend my thousand dollars on the biggest TV possible, equipped with amazing surround sound features- and possibly a potato chip and soda dispenser.

    New Clothes

I love wearing new clothes, but I hate shopping for them -- and even more than that I hate spending big money on my wardrobe. So, if I won $1000, I can see myself buying some new clothes --and perhaps buying some duds at stores I don't normally patronize. In fact, I'm likely to PAY somebody else to go shopping FOR me!

    Movies

Though it's not very often we go, it pains me every time I go to a movie and shell out 22 bucks for a pair of tickets, and another ten bucks for a soda and popcorn. I hate spending money on a movie when I walk out of the theater saying " I can't believe I spent good, hard-earned money on that movie." If it was FREE money, I wouldn't care. We could go to a movie every other week for an entire year, and have enough money to get the 3D glasses - and perhaps an occasional box of Goobers. And if the movie turns out bad, who cares?
