Man Rescued by Helicopter After Falling on North Maroon Peak Near Aspen Colorado [VIDEO]

A 59-year-old man fell 50 feet while descending North Maroon Peak near Aspen this weekend and the rescue was caught on video.

On Saturday (Sept. 21) the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office received a call from a climbing party who was in need of immediate assistance. The team of climbers were climbing North Maroon Peak when one of the party members fell 50 feet and was injured.

The Mountain Rescue Aspen (MRA) were deployed via Flight for Life helicopter out of Summit County into the field to assist the injured climber and his party. The MRA moved the injured individual to a location on the mountain where they could be reached by a Blackhawk helicopter from High Altitude Aviation Training Site. The man was then airlifted to the Aspen Pitkin County Airport where he was taken to Aspen County Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The man suffered a possible broken jaw and multiple other injuries.
