Heavy Rain in Grand Junction Leaves Roads and Parking Lots Flooded
Monday's heavy downpours in Grand Junction left city streets and parking lots flooded and under water. The National Weather Service reports over an inch of rain fell in Grand Junction.
Some roads and parking lots handled the excess water better than others. Pools of water could be found in the parking lot at Mesa Mall.
At the intersection of 25 Road and Patterson, there was clearly more water in the gutters than the drains could handle creating backed up traffic on Patterson as cars carefully navigated the high water.
Then we found this parking lot that looked like it might make a great fishing hole. I wasn't exactly sure how deep the water was and decided to venture through it. Wow, it was deep and I wasn't sure my SUV was going to make it all the way through. We made it, and on the other side got a good look at the waves we created.
Here's a look outside the studios of Townsquare Media Grand Junction, where sustained sheets and sheets of rain came pouring down. As I recall, it has been a long, long time since Grand Junction has seen such a rainy day as this.
