While the nation has been captivated by the aftermath of the Boston Marathon Bombing, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony when on last Thursday, quietly, as scheduled. It was a special one for Heart as the band was inducted as part of the 2013 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees.

Led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson and introduced by Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, Heart was recognized for their ground-breaking achievements in music throughout their career spanning four decades. Their milestones include a monster 22 million album sales in the U.S., 30 million albums sold around the globe and fourteen studio albums released since 1976 including their latest in 2012, ‘Fanatic.’

Before leaving, Heart put on a show for the crowd too. Digging into their deep collection of hits they delivered ‘Crazy on You,’ ‘Barracuda,’ and an acoustic rendition of ‘Dreamboat Annie.’ Yes, Heart's female-led band was ground-breaking, but has also been remarkably enduring. Their long-awaited induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was well deserved.

By the way, you can see the television broadcast of the  induction ceremony May 18th on HBO.

Check out some photos from the special evening below including an all-star jam that saw Heart join Rush, Foo Fighters and Public Enemy.
