Have You Noticed Something Missing From Orchard Mesa?

It seems something is amiss on Orchard Mesa in Grand Junction. Didn't there used to be a giant building right there? Most people were aware a new business was coming to the area. Little did some of us know it would mean the departure of an O.M. landmark.

It seems the Alco building on Orchard Mesa has gone, well, somewhere else. More than likely, the landfill.

It's been known for some time Maverick would be opening a store on the corner of 27 Road and Highway 50. It was even known it would be located in the Orchard Mesa shopping plaza.

What wasn't known to some, including me, was that the Alco building was going to ripped to bits. Silly me, I just thought they might move into the building already in place.

Looking back, that building has been an Alco, Gibsons, and if you go back far enough, a Safeway.

Farewell Alco. Welcome Maverick. Things change, I guess.
