Happy Belated Birthday to Little Richard

Rock and Roll legend Little Richard turned 81 years old this week -and I missed his birthday. So today, we offer a small tribute to one of the pioneers of the rock and roll era.Little Richard  did have a number of chart hits like Long Tall Sally, Good Golly, Miss Molly, Lucille, and others. But his contribution to rock and roll was not so much about the hits as it was about his spirit, energy, enthusiasm, and style.It was about his heart and passion.

He was a performer's performer. Whenever he was on stage it looked like he was as happy to be there as the audience was to be there watching him.

Little Richard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, and seven  years later receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award - and very deserving of both honors.

And, so, although a day late, happy birthday to Little Richard. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us for all these years.
