There should be little debate that the Beatles were the greatest band in history – based upon their enduring popularity, album sales, and chart success. With 72 chart hits, 20 #1 hits in the U.S., and 59 weeks at #1 in the U.S., the discussion is over. But, I propose a new discussion – the greatest Beatles song of all time- that did not  make it into the top 10 on the U.S. charts.

For the sake of this discussion, one rule is that the song has to have appeared on the U.S. billboard chart. We have already eliminated all of the #1 songs which takes out such classics as Hey, Jude, Let It Be, and Yesterday. And we have thrown out all of the top 10 songs which includes Twist and Shout, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Something, and Got To Get You Into My Life.

That leaves us with 38 Beatles hits that did not make the top 10. Again, for this discussion, we are going to eliminate everything released after 1980, which includes The Beatles Movie Medley, the re-release of Twist and Shout from the movie Ferris Buehler’s Day Off, the 1995 releases of Baby It’s You and Free As A Bird, and Real Love, released in 1996.

That leaves us with 33 Beatles’tunes to choose from. Next we eliminate the two 4-track EP's, and the release of She Loves You in German. That brings us down to about 30 tunes to choose from.

Finally, to get down to a manageable number, we've  simply listed the most popular songs that remain on the list. Remember, there is no wrong answer. Vote for which one you think  is the greatest Beatles song on the charts - never to make the top 10 - and I will be playing it on the radio later this week. We even give you a blank to fill in your own selection - just remember the rules.
