This weekend we have some great rivalries going on here locally. Not just the Denver Broncos but some of our local high schools as well. Here is a complete preview of the weekend ahead in college, high school and professional football.

As we all know Denver Bronco fans and Oakland Raider fans don't get along. Now that I think of it, I don't think Raider fans get along with anyone. This weeks match up of two AFC West teams that have a history of hating each other--to say the least-- will be the prime time game to watch.

The Oakland Raiders lost a close game against another AFC West rival the San Diego Chargers to start off the season. Then they got ran over by a Miami team that seems all they can do is run the ball. Last week they were able to pull off a win against a tough Pittsburgh Steelers team.

The Denver Broncos opened up the season with their only win so far against the same Pittsburgh Steelers. Then they played a talented Atlanta Falcons team under the big lights of Monday Night Football and lost. Last week, the Broncos fell again against the undefeated Houston Texans. The Broncos have had 3 tough games and the Raiders will show no sympathy when they go head to head on Sunday in Denver. Look for this great rivalry to be a battle.

Fruita Monument Vs. Grand Junction Football

Here locally the Grand Junction Tigers will host the Fruita Monument Wildcats in a homecoming game for the Tigers. When comparing the Wildcats (1-4) and the Tigers (4-1) from the stat sheet, the game is in the favor of the Tigers by 10 points. Anyone who knows anything about sports knows that stats don't tell all, especially in a rivalry game. This Fridays game (9/28/2012) at 7 p.m. will also be a game to watch. Or listen to it on 95 Rock or 95rockfm.com for Friday Night Lights.

CMU Mavs VS. NMHU
Colorado Mesa University

Last but not least the Colorado Mesa University Maverick Football team will also be having a Homecoming game this Saturday (9/29/2012) against New Mexico Highlands University at 1:00. Last year the Mavs fell to the Cowboys in the last few seconds of the 4th quarter. It was a tough loss, especially because the Referees gave NMHU a timeout with :09 seconds left in the game when they were out of timeouts and that set up the winning touchdown. Not only that but the Cowboys play tough football. Some might even say they play a little chippy and somewhat illegally. None the less, the returning Mavs who remember last years game have something to prove on their home turf and it will be a tough, nose grinding game. If you can't make it down to Stocker Stadium for the game, tune in  on 99.9 KEKB, AM 1230 KEXO or at kekbfm.com.
