Grand Valley Temperatures Could Reach Above 40 For First Time in Nearly 40 Days

For those that are loathing the Western Colorado winter, there is some good news. The Grand Valley could be seeing temperatures in the low 40s by this weekend.

In Grand Junction, we expect to have cold weather in December and January, but many of us still hope for the "mild" side of cold. So far Western Colorado seems to be somewhere in the middle. We haven't had a ton of bitterly cold temperatures, but there hasn't been much on the mild side.

According to wunderground.com, the last time the temperature reached 40-degrees in Grand Junction was December 11 .

That means, as of Monday, we  failed to reach 40-degrees for 38 consecutive days.

We were actually doing OK until Christmas Day, which brought over six inches of snow and 11 consecutive days of subfreezing temperatures. Of course, we are still in the process of trying to get rid of all that snow.

We still have a ton of winters left, two months to be exact, but there is hope for those that are ready for warmer days. The forecast is calling for temperatures in the low 40s on Friday, and mid-40s on Saturday. If the forecast holds true, it would mark the first time in more than 40 days we have felt a high temperature of at least 40.

While we are likely to have plenty more frigid days and nights, and snow to go along with it, each mild day we experience is one less day of cold misery, and takes us one day closer to spring.
